Experience and Innovation
Over thirty years of experience and specialization in industrial and civil construction, in the design and construction of infrastructure works, and the management of steel plants.
Established in 1981 by Italian entrepreneur Sergio Trombini, today Semat is the civil engineering and general construction branch of the ATB Group. The solid and steady growth of the company over the years is mainly due to the ability to diversify its fields of specialization and expand the range of services offered. Semat is a leading company in the construction of industrial and infrastructure works configured to operate in the international arena.
Currently Semat is present in six European countries where it is executing and developing significant contracts in the field of industrial construction putting all its operational potential in the field.
The twenty-year-long collaboration with the Ilva Group, particularly at the Taranto production site, the leading European full-cycle steel plant, was fundamental for the acquisition of operational potential and technical experience in the iron and steel sector.
With regard to infrastructures, Semat boasts references in the road sector (roads and motorways, some of which are of great importance such as the BreBeMi), energy (especially hydroelectric power plants), and telecommunications (wide band networks).
Another field of application is civil construction: construction of new buildings, residential and tourist accommodations, recovery and renovation of existing buildings.

The company SEMAT SPA, together with ATB Riva Calzoni, a leading company among the world's producers of components for the energy sector, is part of ATB Group, an international holding led by Sergio Trombini.
From the initial core business represented by the construction industry, the group currently operates with technical expertise and production and engineering know-how in two sectors: General Civil Engineering Construction and Energy.
The group is represented in every sector by leading and specialized companies, all 100% owned by the ATB Group which generates a total annual turnover of over €200 million.
History

• SEMAT acquires the doubling of the discharge sluices of the San Valentino dam for Alperia SpA.
• SEMAT acquires construction works for the new wire rod mill for Acciaierie Venete SpA (Sarezzo).
- 2023
• SEMAT acquires the construction of a new scrap park in Riesa (Germany) for ESF Feralpi Sthal.
• SEMAT acquires construction works for the new rolling mill in Riesa (Germany) for ESF Feralpi Sthal.
• SEMAT acquires the execution of civil works for the upgrade of the Mantova wastewater treatment plant for Sider Idraulic SpA.
• SEMAT acquires the execution of civil works for the construction of a wind farm for Simic SpA.
• SEMAT acquires construction works for the new rolling mill at the Megasider plant for Megazider Zaragoza.

• SEMAT acquires construction works for a new spooler plant (Seville) for Siderurgica Sevillana.
- 2021
• SEMAT acquires green landscaping for mineral parks (Taranto).
• SEMAT acquires coverage for the AGL Nord park (Taranto).
• SEMAT acquires the execution of civil works for a new scrap park for Pittini (Potenza).
• SEMAT acquires the execution of civil works for the new rolling mill at the San Zeno Naviglio (BS) plant, for Duferco Travi e Profilati SpA.

• SEMAT acquires work for the coverage of the AGL-SUD park (Taranto).
• SEMAT acquires the hydroelectric power plant of Darfo B. T for Iniziative Bresciane SpA.
- 2019
• SEMAT acquires a rainwater treatment plant for Arcelor Mittal (Taranto).
• SEMAT acquires a new oxygen plant for Pittini (Potenza).
• SEMAT acquires the construction of the coverage for the Omo Park for Arcelor Mittal (Taranto).
• SEMAT acquires the Morlana Vecchia hydroelectric power plant for Iniziative Bergamasche Srl.
- 2018
• SEMAT acquires the construction of the foundations for the mineral park coverage for Cimolai at Arcelor Mittal (Taranto).
- 2017
• Semat obtained two new certifications: 9B (environmental remediation) and 8C (waste intermediation).
- 2016
• Semat acquired the UNI EN ISO 14001 certification that defines the requirements for an environmental management system.
• Semat acquired the contract for the construction of a new landfill for non-hazardous waste at Ilva in Novi Ligure (AL).
• BTB Gmbh, a subsidiary of Semat with headquarters in Germany, was awarded the contract for the construction of a new rod rewinding facility at the BES Branderburger plant.
• Semat acquired the contract for the construction of a new Ansaldo Energia plant for the assembly of turbines.
- 2015
• Semat acquired the plant revamping works for the ACEA Hydroelectric Plant in Castelmadama near Tivoli (RM).
• Semat participated with its own exhibition space at Made in Steel, the most important event in Southern Europe dedicated to the steel supply chain.
• Semat won the contract for the civil works for the restructuring of the Campolessi (UD) hydroelectric power plant.
- 2014
• Semat and C.B.M.C. were awarded the contract for the construction of the 2nd lot of the Taranto - Avetrana inland coastal road.
- 2013
• Semat won the contract to cover the secondary stockyards at ILVA in Taranto, an area of ??about 100,000 square meters.
• Semat, Bedeschi and Somin worked on the construction of the new slag storage area at ILVA Taranto. The structure is 280 meters long, 98 meters wide and has a height of about 35 meters.
• The company acquired the construction of public-owned broadband infrastructure in rural areas of the Emilia Romagna region affected by the digital divide.
- 2012
• Semat won the contract announced by LGH Rinnovabili srl for the construction of a hydroelectric plant (annual average capacity of 2,628,000 kwh) on the Oglio river, in the municipality of Darfo Boario Terme (Bs).
- 2011
• Semat completed the construction of two hydroelectric power plants on the Pescara river, between the provinces of Chieti and Pescara.
• Semat Engineering was established, 100% controlled by Semat Spa, with a focus on mechanical and refractory maintenance in steel plants, cement factories, and foundries.
• Semat and PAC were awarded the contract for the construction of the connecting link road between the BRE.BE.MI. motorway and the southern bypass of Brescia.
• Semat obtained BS OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification.
• At the end of 2011 the new oxygen production plant was inaugurated in the ILVA plant in Taranto after the contract was acquired in 2008. Semat completed the structural works including the building that houses the largest compressor in Europe.
- 2010
• The foundations of the new hot-dip galvanizing line at the ILVA factory in Novi Ligure were turned over on schedule.
- 2009
• Two gas treatment and production plants contracted by North Sun Italia in Sillaro (Bo) and Castello (Mi) were turned over.
• Termination of the works for the new SPA & Wellness center completing the prior renovation of the Terme di Boario.
- 2008
• SEMAT won the contract for the construction of two hydroelectric plants on the Pescara river in the provinces of Chieti and Pescara. Contract value: €10 million.
• Renovation of the Terme di Boario.
• Acquired the contract for the revamping works of the Siderúrgica Sevillana S.A. steel company in Spain.
- 2005
• The know-how acquired in the traditional construction sector, but especially in the iron and steel industry (complex foundations and structures to support machinery and plants and precision equipment), put SEMAT among the leading companies in the sector.
• Semat acquired the contract for the construction of new chairlifts in the ski resort of the municipality of Temù (Bs) from SIT, Società Impianti Turistici SpA.
- 2004
• Work began on the construction of the "La Corte" building complex, a prestigious building destined for homes and commercial spaces in the municipality of Darfo Boario Terme (Bs).
- 2003
• Acquired the UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Certification.
- 2002
• Work was completed on the construction of Villa Giovinezza, a tourist-residential complex in Ponte di Legno (Bs).
- 2000
• In order to fully satisfy the client's needs and not just offer construction services, SEMAT evolved establishing an in-house highly skilled technical design structure organized for its continuous improvement and to apply state of the art standards over the entire production and organizational process.
• Conservative restoration of the historic building "Cà dei Nis" in Artogne (Bs).
- 1997
• Acquired the first contract at ILVA in Taranto, one of the most important steel mills in Europe.
- 1992
• BTB Bau Gmbh, based in Germany, was established to meet the demands of the German market.
- 1990
• The primary business activity became industrial construction in the steel sector. There were new acquisitions of works in France, Germany and in northern and southern Italy.
- 1984
• The first industrial building contract was acquired abroad. This activity continued with the completion of multiple types of work, gaining experience, organizational skills and specialization.
- 1981
• Semat was founded by Sergio Trombini. Initially the company dealt with subcontract work on behalf of third parties in the province of Brescia.

Governance
Sergio Trombini is the president of ATB Holding S.p.A. and its main subsidiaries, a group of companies operating in the construction, hydro energy, and nuclear sectors.
Trombini’s entrepreneurial career began in 1981, with the establishment of his first company specializing in contract work in the province of Brescia. In 1990, he expanded his business horizons by creating Semat Spa, a company operating in the construction of steel production and treatment units in Europe.
In 2003, with the acquisition of ATB Riva Calzoni, Sergio Trombini introduced the Group in the Energy sector, projecting it into an international dimension.

The Code of Conduct is the "Constitution" of the Company, the foundation of moral rights and duties that defines the social and ethical responsibilities of each participant in the Corporate Organization. The implementation of the Code of Conduct is an efficient tool to prevent irresponsible or illegal behavior by those working on behalf of the company. In fact, the Code presents a clear and explicit social ethical responsibility towards those parties directly or indirectly involved in the company's activities (Customers, Suppliers, Partners, Citizens, Employees, Contractors, Public Institutions, Environmental Associations, etc.).
The Code of Conduct is the main tool for implementing ethics within the company. It aims to clarify and define the group of principles and relationships that regulate the duties and behavior of all parties involved. Persons affected by the Code must respect the values ??and principles of the Code of Conduct and must protect and preserve, with their behavior, the reputation and image of SEMAT as well as the integrity of its economic and human assets.
Il The SEMAT Code of Conduct, the Organizational and Management Model and the Company Quality Policy are effective tools to increase the awareness of Employees and anyone involved in the company's operations, so that they demonstrate, in all their activities, correct and appropriate behavior so as to avoid administrative transgressions related to their responsibilities (see Leg. Quality, Environment and Safety
Semat focuses on the quality of services and the reduction of environmental impact. We maintain a strong conviction that the improvement of production performance comes first from greater concern and attention to the protection of workers and the environment. The company has developed an integrated quality, health, and safety management system in compliance with current legislation. With the UNI EN ISO 9001.2008, OHSAS 18001.2007 and UNI EN ISO 14001 certifications, Semat complies with the requirements of the law for the design, construction, maintenance and renovation of civil and industrial buildings, aqueducts, and waterways, as well as hydraulic engineering and remediation.
Semat has always invested significant resources in updating prevention measures and strengthening safety measures: from fire-fighting and first-aid courses to targeted training of specific professionals with the continuous involvement of all the skilled workers present in the company. Semat's goal is to spread awareness of the importance of prevention throughout the company, with the objective of creating a solid corporate safety culture at work.
Resources and equipment and vehicles
People are Semat's primary resource, the men and women who work side by side every day expressing heterogeneous skills. SEMAT is effectively a large team of professionals with experience in various sectors and management attentive to quality, environment, and safety in work processes. There are engineers, surveyors, site managers and skilled workers: everyone participates in continuous education and training courses.
The equipment and vehicles are the second component of Semat's operational force. The company has a large fleet of machines and equipment distributed throughout different work sites. It is a fleet comprised of state-of-the-art and continuously replaced vehicles, periodically subjected to maintenance and quality checks to verify their technical capabilities and offer maximum operating efficiency.
