The slag condensation and granulation plant is a fundamental component that allows the blast furnaces to produce pig iron while reducing the environmental impact as much as possible. Between 2008 and 2012 Semat completed all works in reinforced concrete and part of the refractory works for eight plants of this type for Ilva Taranto. Most of the interventions were carried out with the plants in operation, thereby significantly reducing the impact of the intervention on the production yield of the steel plant. The same activities were carried out by Semat over the years for blast furnaces 1,2,4 as well.
