In 2006 Semat built a new hydrochloric acid regeneration plant at the Ilva Taranto plant. It is a sophisticated system through which particular physical chemical processes can be obtained. The construction of the Tank Farm involved the design of special foundations protected by treatments aimed at ensuring resistance to acids and corrosive agents. Semat also provided for the construction of all auxiliary systems, electric substations, and pump rooms. In this project, carried out in collaboration with other specialized companies, Semat provided its experience in the construction of reinforced concrete structures as well as its knowledge about the specific context of the job. The project was completed in 2008. Subsequently, the same intervention was carried out at the Ilva Novi Ligure.
